Robert L. Waltrip, M.D., attended Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He completed his internship and orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Dr. Waltrip then conducted a sports medicine and shoulder fellowship with the internationally renowned Drs. James Andrews and Bill Clancy at the American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, Ala. There, he refined his skills in sports medicine, arthroscopy, and surgery of the knee and shoulder.
